Privacy Policy

Last updated October 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ys Goldt and nachtljocht collect, use, and protect information when you visit these websites, subscribe to a newsletter, use a contact form, submit work, or follow links to related pages.

Who This Covers

This policy applies to ysgoldt.com, nachtljocht.com, and related pages hosted through GitHub Pages, including pages under ysyvon.github.io/website.

Information You Provide

You may choose to provide personal information such as your name, email address, website, social links, submission materials, message contents, or other details when you contact me, subscribe to a mailing list, submit work to nachtljocht, or otherwise communicate with these sites.

If you submit creative work, contributor materials, author photos, biographies, or publication information, that material may be reviewed for editorial purposes and, if accepted or otherwise agreed, may be published on the site.

Journal Notes

If you leave a note or reply on a journal entry, the name you enter (or “A visitor”), your text, the entry and note it belongs to, and the submission time are stored for moderation. Approved names, notes, replies, timestamps, and my replies appear publicly. Visitor replies appear under the original note after I approve them. Cloudflare Turnstile checks submissions. Resend sends me an alert containing the entry identifier and a link to the moderation page, without the note or reply text.

When leaving a new note or replying to one, you may optionally ask for emails about later approved replies under that original note after confirming, for up to six months after your latest opt-in. The address is used only for those notifications, not for a newsletter. Resend first sends a confirmation link unless that address has already confirmed a subscription to the same note. Every notification includes an unsubscribe link, which removes that address from the note's reply subscriptions. Your email address never appears with your public note or reply. Unconfirmed addresses become eligible for removal after seven days, and confirmed addresses after six months. Expired addresses are removed during normal operation of the journal note service. Rejecting or deleting an original note also removes its notification addresses. Earlier requests for a single email if I reply keep that original scope.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, hosting, security, form, email, and infrastructure providers may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, pages visited, dates and times, and basic diagnostic logs.

These sites may use cookies, local storage, or similar browser technologies for basic site functions, such as remembering whether a newsletter popup has been dismissed. Embedded third-party tools may use their own cookies or similar technologies.

How Information Is Used

Information may be used to operate the websites, respond to messages, review and manage submissions, send newsletters or updates you requested, maintain security, troubleshoot technical issues, preserve editorial records, comply with legal obligations, and improve the visitor experience.

Third-Party Services

These sites may rely on third-party services including GitHub Pages for hosting, Cloudflare for DNS, security, journal note moderation, and redirects, Resend for journal note alerts and optional reply notifications, Buttondown for newsletters, Tally for forms, and other linked services such as Bandcamp, Amazon, Discord, social platforms, and the Indie Press Webring. Those services may process information under their own privacy policies.

Sharing Information

I do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers that help run the websites, email lists, forms, submissions, hosting, security, or analytics-like infrastructure. Information may also be shared if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or with your consent.

International Visitors

These sites are operated from the United States and may be visited from other countries. If you access the sites from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or in other places where service providers operate.

Your Choices And Rights

You can choose not to submit personal information. You can unsubscribe from newsletters and journal reply notifications using the links in those emails. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or information about how your personal information is handled.

To make a privacy request, email hello@ysgoldt.com. I may need enough information to verify and respond to your request.

Retention

Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including communication records, editorial records, publication records, legal obligations, backups, security logs, or legitimate operational needs.

Children

These sites are not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me so it can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.

Security

I use reasonable care and reputable service providers to help protect information. No website, email, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
